Support filament is an essential material for 3D printing as it offers the ability to print complex and overhanging structures. It serves as a temporary support structure during the printing process, allowing objects with overhangs or voids to be printed that would not be possible without support. The support filament is used together with the main filament and is made of PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) or HIPS.
It is usually soluble or easily removable so that it can be removed after printing without damaging the printed object.
Using support filament opens up a variety of possibilities for 3D printing. You can print complex geometric shapes that wouldn't otherwise be possible, or create models with voids and overhangs.
Of course you need at least two hotends/extrutrs to be able to print.
